i m working as senior resident since july 2013 in a central government medical college.i am trying to apply for maternity leave from 1 JAN 2014,but being denied of the leave as they are saying no maternity leave during first year of senior residency as per our university rules.please suggest me option also provide documents in the support as i have read there is no difference in maternity rules for temporary and permanent employees.

Maternity act, 1961 does not apply to government bodies.

But you can quote this high court judgement to claim this benefit.
