Do I need to file income tax for 2013? What is the last date?

I've got a salary of Rs. 2.5 lacs and also some cash from brother from bank transfer( around Rs. 80,000). Do I need to file income tax right now? I think July 31st was the last for filing income tax.

For this year onwards( AY13-14 ) ending March 31, 2013 women will not get any benefit in filing income tax.

So in your case up to Rs. 2 lacs no income tax and 10% on Rs. 50,000+ Rs. 80,000. Also if you've taken loan from your brother then it won't be added to your income. But you'll need to return it one day.

How much of savings do you have?

If your salary is less than Rs. 5 lacs without any other income then no need to file income tax ...

About last date of filing income tax - it is March 31st of 2014. Filing beyond this date may attract Rs. 5,000 penalty.

The last date is 31st March Of 2014.Also keep updated for more info in this forum.
As per new rule,you have to pay income tax of rs 5000(10% of 50,000) as your income is 250000 and is taxable.
